Burlington, IA- At 2:28 am Friday, January 21, 2022, the Burlington Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 116 N. Marshall Street in Burlington.
Upon arrival 4 minutes later, firefighters found flames and smoke showing from a 2-unit apartment house, and occupants were in the process of evacuating the house.
The 2-unit apartment house, owned by Charles McCabe, sustained extensive fire, smoke, and water damage and is not insured. Damage estimates are still being assessed.
Only one apartment was occupied, and all occupants were able to escape uninjured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department and is not considered suspicious.
