Fort Madison Councilperson to challenge for seat in the State Legislature

Fort Madison, IA-  A sitting Fort Madison City Councilperson has announced their candidacy for the newly created 100th state House district, which covers most of Lee County.

The Pen City Current reports that Fort Madison First Ward Councilwoman Rebecca Bowker announced Thursday that she will challenge Republican Representative Martin Graber for the new 100th house district.

Bowker was elected to the Fort Madison City Council in 2019.  She is The Executive Officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary and also serves as a volunteer in different organizations in the city.

The 100th District covers most of Lee County and will come into effect on January 1st, 2023.  The general election takes place on November 1st.
