New details in Carthage death investigation

Carthage, Ill.-  Authorities have announced preliminary results of a death investigation related to a body found outside Carthage, Ill., on Sunday.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office,  the findings revealed that 27-year-old Darren McGrew of Carthage died from “extended exposure to cold weather.”

Hancock County Sheriff Travis Duffy says that there was no indication of trauma or illness and no indication of foul play.

McGrew had last been seen walking in the early morning hours on Friday, February 4th.

The investigation into McGrew’s death is ongoing.
