Keokuk National Cemetery to Hold Memorial Day Ceremony

Keokuk, IA-  The Keokuk National Cemetery will be hosting a memorial day event at noon Monday, May 30th.

The Department of Veterans Affairs Keokuk National Cemetery will host a solemn Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony, accompanied by speeches, a moment of silence, and the playing of Taps and the Rifle Volley by American Legion Post 41 and supporting units.

Speakers for the event include Keokuk Mayor Kathie Mahoney, Iowa State Representative Christina Bohannan, and Keokuk American Legion Post 41 Commander Dustin Cackley.

This will be the first public Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery since 2019.

Visitors are recommended to park outside the gate of the Cemetery off of 18th street on the Eastern Portion of the national cemetery.
