Burlington, IA- With the June 7th primary approaching, Des Moines County residents will only have a few contested races to vote on.
The Hawk Eye reports that the 2022 Primary Election mostly consists of uncontested races. The only contested races are for the 99th District Republican nomination, and for the US Senate.
Candidates in the 99th District election include City Councilman Matt Rinker and local business owner TJ Widbin who will go up against current 99th District representative Dennis Cohoon.
Multiple candidates from both parties are vying for the US Senate seat held by Chuck Grassley. Iowa Senator Jim Carlin is running on the Republican side, while Mike Franken, Glenn Hurst, and Abby Finkenaur are all seeking the Democratic nomination.
