Washington-  The Food and Drug Administration is warning of a possible link between organic strawberries and an outbreak of Hepatitis A in the US and Canada.

According to the FDA, an investigation into a multistate outbreak of hepatitis A infections in the United States and Canada potentially linked the cases  to fresh organic strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB, purchased between March 5th and April 25th, 2022.

The strawberries were sold at retailers including Aldi, HEB, Kroger, Safeway, Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Trader Joes, Walmart, Weis Market, and WinCo Foods.

The berries are currently past their shelf life, and should be thrown out if they were purchased between March 5th and April 25th, even if they were frozen to be eaten later.

The New York Times reports that 17 cases of Hepatitis A in the US and 10 cases in Canada were linked to consumption of the strawberries.
