Burlington man arrested for arson following fire

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has reported the arrest of a Burlington man for 2nd Degree Arson.

According to a news release, On Tuesday, June 14th, at about 12:08 AM, Burlington Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the 300 Block of Curran Street for a report of a garage fire.

Upon arrival, responding units found the garage fully engulfed. Through investigation, a person of interest in setting this fire was shortly thereafter located.

The Person, 44-year-old Mark Antonio Carter of Burlington, was transported to the police department for questioning.  At the conclusion of the interview, Carter was arrested for 2nd Degree Arson.

Carter is being held in the Des Moines County Jail on bond pending an initial court appearance.
