
Burlington, IA- A man wanted for the shooting of a Chicago Police officer was arrested in Burlington Wednesday, July 13th.
28 year old Jabari Edwards was arrested Wednesday in the 2500 block of Washington Street in Burlington. Edwards was wanted on Cook County warrants for two counts of Attempted Murder of a Police Officer.
Edwards is currently in custody at the Des Moines County Correctional Center awaiting extradition back to Chicago.
The shooting incident involving Edwards took place on June 1st, 2022 in Chicago when Edwards allegedly opened fire on police officers during a traffic stop and struck an officer in the head.
The officer has since been released from the hospital and is expected to recover.
The Burlington Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, West Burlington Police Department, and the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force assisted the Chicago, Illinois Police Department and the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in arresting Edwards.
