Police make arrest in Burlington shots fired case

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has announced an arrest in connection with a shots fired incident.

On Friday, July 29th, at about 2:04 PM officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of S. Leebrick street for a suspicious person on the premises.

Upon arrival, officers came into contact with 22 year old Levi Evans of Burlington.

Evans had an active warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody.  Officers located narcotics on Evans’s person along with a handgun lying at his feet. This handgun was the same caliber as the shell casings located following shots fired incident on July 27, 2022.

Evans was interviewed and admitted to firing his weapon into the air on the night in question.

Evans is charged with Discharging a weapon inside city limits, an Ineligible person to carry weapons, 2 counts of Possession of a controlled substance, as well as the active warrant.

Additional charges are pending.
