None injured in Burlington attic fire

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Fire Department says no one was injured in an attic fire early Friday.

According to a news release, at 2:08 AM Friday, October 28th, the Burlington Fire Department was dispatched to 1613 Lincoln Street for a report of thick smoke coming from a furnace.  Firefighters arrived 5 minutes later and found nothing showing on arrival.

As the initial engine company made access to the second floor, light smoke was reported. A fire in the attic space above the non-adjoining bedroom and bathroom was confirmed and confined to that area.

The homeowner was alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department and is not considered suspicious.
