Burlington, IA-  The unofficial results of the 2022 midterm elections have been announced in Des Moines County.

In the race for the open seat on the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors, Republican Incumbent Tom Broeker received nearly 63% of the vote, defeating Democratic challenger Sandy Dockendorf.

Republican Martin Graber received 6,553 votes, winning the race for State Representative, District 100, defeating Democrat Rebecca Bowker.

And in the race for State Representative, District 99, Republican Matt Rinker Held 52% of the vote over Democratic Incumbent Dennis Cohoon.

However, the results of the Rinker and Cohoon race will be subject to a recount.

The Hawk Eye reports that, due to an issue with the county’s absentee vote count, Des Moines County Attorney Terri Johnson said that an administrative recount of absentee ballots will be held before the vote canvass on Tuesday, November 15th.

Johnson said that out of the 4,431 absentee ballots processed in Des Moines County, only about 3600 results showed up.

“Two of the sessions created for the absentee ballots did not show up on the results page and the sessions created have an issue that I am not comfortable with. Therefore, I will be asking the Board of Supervisors for an Administrative recount for the absentee ballots before the canvass to be held on November 15th,” Johnson said in a statement Tuesday.
