Two Des Moines Men Sentenced to Federal Prison for Fentanyl Overdose Death

Des Moines, IA-  Two Des Moines men have been sentenced to federal prison for distributing a controlled substance that resulted in death.

39-year-old Michael Allen James was sentenced Friday, November 18th, to 240 months in prison for distributing a controlled substance which resulted in death.  38-year-old Gregory Michael Williams was sentenced to 168 months in prison on August 5th.

According to court documents on November 8th, 2020, Williams purchased two Oxycodone pills from James,  Williams then distributed the pills to two people who then overdosed. One person was revived on scene while the other died at a hospital.

The Oxycodone pills were counterfeit and contained fentanyl.
