Burlington Man Sentenced for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender

Davenport, IA-  A Burlington man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

28-year-old Carlos Bhaiman Wesley of Burlington was sentenced Tuesday to 21 months in prison for failing to update his sex offender registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

According to court documents, Wesley was required to register as a sex offender due to his 2013 Wisconsin conviction for 3rd Degree Sexual Assault.

Wesley absconded from supervision and moved to Burlington. Wesley did not register as a sex offender in the State of Iowa and did not register his out-of-state move with the Wisconsin sex offender registry, in violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
