Wanted Ottumwa man in serious condition after officer involved shooting

Blakesburg, IA-  An Ottumwa man wanted for robbery has been hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, 35-year-old Charles Hall of Ottumwa was shot by law enforcement after officers said he brandished a weapon as a state trooper attemted to arrest him

Hall was wanted for robbery but had fled law enforcement multiple times across multiple jurisdictions.

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Jeremy Cole attempted to arrest Hall in rural Blakesburg on December 7th.  The trooper said that Hall brandished a weapon during the arrest attempt and the trooper shot Hall.

Hall was airlifted to a hospital in Des Moines, where he remains in critical condition.

Trooper Jeremy Cole has been placed on critical incident leave.
