Obituaries for Friday December 23rd

Henry E. Copley, 98, of Burlington passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. He was born
in Lebanon, Kentucky and moved to Burlington after serving in WWII. He married Sylvia
Weinreich on June 14, 1953. Henry worked at the Iowa Ammunition plant before starting with
Culligan Water, where he worked for 30 years. In his later years, he did construction and masonry. He was an active walker and a friend to anyone he met. As a WWII veteran, Henry was able to go on an Honor Tour to Washington D.C. in 2011. He was active in church
throughout his life and knew the Bible well.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, and 5 siblings.

He is survived by one son Jeffrey Copley (Lisa) of New York, three daughters Barbara Copley, Jennifer Hexom (Steve) of Burlington, and Mary Copley of Danville, IA, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, 4 sisters Sadie, Thelma, Christine, and Dorothy of Williamsville, IL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey A. Johnson, 60, of Burlington, died Monday, December 19, 2022.
Born February 18, 1962, in Waterloo, Iowa, he was the son of Leroy Eugene “Gene” and Wanda Jean (Wyatt) Johnson.
He was a 1981 graduate of Mediapolis High School and attended the Faith Baptist College and the University of Iowa, graduating with a degree in Engineering.
He was a Navy veteran.
He married Pamela Hyndman on December 28, 1993, they later divorced.
He was an auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith.
Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family and BBQ’s, his pets and watching comedies. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed collecting and working on cars.
Survivors include his parents, Gene and Wanda Johnson of Clive, Iowa; nine children, Elizabeth Dharriez of Waterloo, Sarah (Hugo) Villasaldo of Washington, Iowa, David (Rose) Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri, Gregory Loper, Josiah Loper, Jeffrey (Abigail) Krieger, James Johnson and Jeremiah Johnson all of Burlington and Jessica (Jordan) Brecount of Fort Madison; 18 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters Kathy Reschke of Westerville, Ohio and Melissa (Kevin) Schneider of West Des Moines, Iowa; one brother Mike Johnson of Burlington and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
The funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23rd at the Woodlands Creek Senior Living Community Room, 12605 Woodlands Parkway, Clive, Iowa. Mr. Kevin Schneider will officiate. Military rites and interment will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, Iowa.
