Covid-19 pandemic easing slightly in Iowa

Des Moines, IA-  The COVID-19 pandemic in Iowa eased slightly over the past week, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The Des Moines Register reports that the number of Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19 decreased over the past week to 222, the fewest number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized since November.  But, the number of patients in intensive care increased to 23, six more than the previous week.

The state health department reported 2,201 new positive cases over the past week, an average of about 314 per day.

As of January 9th 60% of Iowans were fully vaccinated.
