Dorothy E. Beauchamp, 105, of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Winfield. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Beauchamp Cemetery. Following the committal services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Winfield, Autism Association or American Diabetes Association in memory of Dorothy. Dorothy Evelyn Kepper was born on January 15, 1918, in Winfield, Iowa the daughter of Samuel W. and Lois (Cannon) Kepper. She was a graduate of Winfield High School. On November 25, 1936, Dorothy was united in marriage to Russell Beauchamp at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at the Winfield School as a cook, was a State Inspector and also worked at Casey’s. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield, Pinochle Card Club and enjoyed picnics, taking care of her chickens and garden, but most of all, she dearly loved to spend time with her family.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children, Sam (Karen) Beauchamp of Winfield, Hal (Jolene) Beauchamp of Mt. Pleasant and Mark (Terri) Beauchamp of Winfield; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; children, Jim Beauchamp, Mick Beauchamp and Jackie Beauchamp in infancy; grandson, Michael Beauchamp; great granddaughter, Samantha Freeman; brothers, George Kepper, John Kepper and Orin “Bub” Kepper and sister, Wilma Oberman.

Dorothy Hinkle Sams, 96, of Mediapolis, died Monday, January 23, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, West Burlington. She was born November 8, 1926 in Stockport to Chester and Grace L. Hammans Douglas. She attended Stockport schools.
She married Peter Hinkle, Jr in Iowa City; he preceded her in death. On August 16, 1973, she married Dwain Sams in Fairfield. He died September 27, 2017. When she and Peter were first married, they ran the restaurant in the Brazelton Hotel. Dorothy later worked at the Glove Factory, Sylvania, and retired after 22 years as an expeditor at JI Case Company.
She enjoyed baking and cooking; her grandchildren said her homemade noodles and mashed potatoes were the best! She loved red flowers; wearing hats; horseracing, especially the Kentucky Derby; considered the hummingbirds to be her pets; but she mostly loved her family.
Survivors include her daughter Dianna (Steve) Klaus of Danville and son Peter Hinkle III (Cathy) of Lockridge; five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and eight brothers and sisters.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sams will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Visitation will begin at 9:00 with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be at Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis, at 2:00 PM Thursday. Glenda Hartsock, 81, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Colonial Manor. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Snyder and Hollenbaugh Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery. Sympathy notes may be left to the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Glenda.

Glenda Kay Hartsock Bishop was born on September 16, 1941 in Norwood, Missouri, the daughter of Oscar and Ethel Bishop. Glenda graduated from school in Mountain Grove, Missouri. In December 1960 she was united in marriage to Daryl Hartsock. They later divorced. In her younger years, while raising a family Glenda stayed at home with her sons. Once her boys were older Glenda began working at the school in the kitchen and later worked in management of hotel chains. She was a member of Indian Creek Ladies Club and was an avid bowler. She enjoyed puzzles, going to the casino and was a Kansas City Chiefs and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Glenda will be deeply missed by her sons, Ryan (Heidi) Hartsock and Rob (Heather) Hartsock, all of Columbus Junction; grandchildren Kurtis Hartsock, Jacob (Ellie) Hartsock, Cody (Maritza) Hartsock, Jodi (Chance) Heath, Sidney Kauffman, Logan (Nate) Schneider, Whitney Russell, Lexee Hartsock, Sadie Hartsock, Madison Hartsock and Robyn Hartsock; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Snider of Ellijay, Georgia and step-sister, Jean Markwell of Muscatine.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Randy and Ricky Hartsock; step-mother, Henrietta Bishop; sister, Norma Thornton and step-brother, Ronald Ziehl.

Beatrice Ilene Frank, 96, was born on August 25, 1926 in Iowa City, Iowa to Lloyd Walter and Eva Ruth
Terhune Lincoln. Ilene passed away on January 23, 2023. She was married to Donald R. Frank on
November 30, 1946 in Algona, Iowa. Don passed away on February 3, 2005, after 58 years of marriage.
Ilene graduated from West Branch High School in 1944. She graduated from Burlington Beauty
Academy in 1946. She was a hairdresser for nearly 50 years, owning the West Hill Beauty Shop.
After her retirement she remained very active. She volunteered at the Des Moines County Historical
Society, served as a precinct chairperson for elections, conducted cooking classes at the Heritage
Museum, and organized her family reunions and genealogy.
Survivors include: son, Warren Frank, sister Donna McIlrath of DeKalb, IL., numerous nieces and
nephews, lifelong friends James Miller, DC, and Mary Rae Schnedler.
Funeral services for Ilene will be held at the Lunning Chapel at 11:00 am, Friday, January 27, 2023 with
the family receiving friends from 09:30 to 11:00. Private burial will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 4 siblings.
The family requests no flowers. A memorial fund has been established for the Des Moines County
Historical Society.

Shirley C. Mundt, 89, of Burlington died Friday, January 20, 2023 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born January 29, 1933 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul and Ella (Duff) Schmitz.
Shirley graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1951. On December 8, 1950 she married William R. Mundt in Burlington. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2012.
Shirley was a 71-year member of Bethany Lutheran church where she participated in various church activities. Her greatest joy was sewing for her family. She sewed quilts, clothing, holiday projects and cross stitched. Shirley also enjoyed shopping, antiquing, and maintaining a well decorated home. She was a diehard Cubs fan, staying up to watch every game of the 2016 World Series.
Shirley was primarily a homemaker and also worked part-time at the family business, Mundt Piano and Organ.
Survivors include two daughters Karla (Richard Keith) Mundt of Burlington and Kathy Shriver of Bettendorf; one son William G. Mundt of Burlington; five grandchildren Cameo, Sara, Rob, Audrey, Danny; two step great grandchildren Scott, Steve; six great grandchildren Andrew, T.J. Carlee, Fisher, Harper, Sawyer; sister Carol Sprock of Stronghurst, IL; sister-in-law Molly Schmitz of Burlington and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; grandson Carl; son-in-law Bob Shriver; four brothers Paul, Kenny, Bill, Dick; and beloved dogs Missy and Katie.
The service for Shirley will be 10:30 am Thursday, January 26th at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Pete Hagglund officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 25th at Lunning Chapel.
Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and Des Moines County Community Foundation.

Rodney D. Crowell, 71, of Burlington, died Saturday, January 21, 2023, at his sister’s home in rural Oakville.

Born September 10, 1951, in Springfield, IL, he was the son of Marvin and Donna (Hoon) Crowell.

Rod was a graduate of Burlington High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps., and took great pride in serving his country.

He retired as a Lineman with Alliant Energy.

Rod enjoyed going to the races, river life, the ocean, and enjoyed having a few cocktails with friends.

Survivors include his son, Chason Crowell; sister, Sherry (Jim) Anderson of Oakville, IA; two brothers, Randy (Angie) Crowell and Jim (Yvonne) Crowell; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A memorial service will be held at a later date, with inurnment to be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

Shane Richard Nichols, 51, of Burlington, died Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born August 4, 1971, in Havre, MT, he was the son of Joe and Sally Nichols.

He was a graduate of Burlington High School and Colorado Technical University.

He was an office manager for Midwest Maintenance Service. Prior to that, he was the owner and operator of Burlington on the Move, he worked for Motorola and as an over the road truck driver for Transport America. During that time, he read the entire Bible 3 times.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on board the USS Leyte Gulf during the Gulf War from January 10, 1990 until January 7, 1994.

Shane was a very generous and giving person who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a very social person and was known for being the life of the party. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Denver Broncos, and UFC fighting.

Survivors include his parents, Sally and Joe Nichols; three brothers, Lonny Nichols of Ashburn, VA, Joseph Nichols of Burlington, and Scott (Bobbi) Nichols of Ottawa, IL; two nephews, Ian and Jackson Nichols; one niece, Katherine Nichols; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; sister-in-law, Heather Nichols; uncle, Bill Fisher; and cousins, Andrew Fisher and Danny Larson.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

A time of food and fellowship with the family to receive friends will be 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division St.
