Burlington man found not guilty in sex abuse trial

Burlington, IA-  A Burlington man was found not guilty Friday, February 24th, in a child sex abuse case dating back to 2015.

The Hawk Eye reports that 32-year-old Jacob Brosman of Burlington was acquitted by a jury on Friday of second-degree sexual abuse.  Brosman was accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 12 between 2015 and 2019, and was charged in January of 2020.

Had Brosman been convicted, he faced a 25-year prison sentence, as well as a requirement to register as a sex offender, and lifetime parole.
