
Burlington, IA- The Burlington Fire Department says a heat lamp was the cause of a Burlington house fire.
According to a news release, at 1:17 PM Monday, February 27th, the Burlington and West Burlington Fire Departments were called to 2405 Mount Pleasant Street for a report of a house full of smoke.
Fire crews arrived at 1:19 PM and located a small fire on the floor of the living room. Firefighters had the fire under control by 1:24 PM.
Damages from the fire were contained to a small area on and below the wooden floor of the living room, and the house sustained smoke damage throughout.
The occupant of the home was not there at the time, and the fire was discovered by a relative stopping in to care for pets. The property is insured and all pets were uninjured.
The fire is considered accidental and was caused by a heat lamp that had fallen onto the wood floor.
