West Burlington, IA- The West Burlington Police Department says one person died in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 34.
According to a news release, At 5:50 PM Thursday, West Burlington Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 34 at the Gear Avenue exit.
Officers and paramedics arrived on the scene at 5:51 PM. One adult male diver was found in the vehicle unconscious and unresponsive, and life-saving measures were immediately started on the scene.
The man was transported to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation showed that the deceased’s vehicle was going eastbound on Highway 34, when it veered across the median and westbound lanes of traffic before entering the north ditch and striking a tree.
The name of the deceased in being withheld pending notification of family.
