
Macomb, Ill.- The Macomb Police Department has identified the person killed, as well as the suspect in a weekend shooting.
According to a news release, Macomb police responded to a call of shots fired at an off-campus party in the 500 block of North Johnson Street at about 1:55 AM Saturday. Police believe that an altercation began and gunfire erupted as a result.
Ten people were wounded, six of them being Western Illinois University Students, and transported to McDonough District Hospital.
26-year-old Jerman Beathea of Chicago died as a result of gunshot wounds.
23-year-old Donell Williams of Macomb was identified as the suspect. Williams was arrested while in possession of a firearm, as well as a felony amount of drugs which led to the armed violence charge.
Police say that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming and additional arrests may be made.
