Burlington Police Department: man shot in both legs refusing to cooperate with investigation

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred Sunday, May 7th, despite the victim refusing to cooperate.

According to a news release, DESCOM dispatched officers to 1921 Summer Street following the report that a man had been shot.  Officers arrived and located the victim, who had been shot one time, and the bullet had stuck the victim in both legs.

The victim was uncooperative, but the victims girlfriend said the victim told her he was going outside.  Shortly after, the girlfriend said she heard yelling outside the residence followed by a gunshot.

The girlfriend said she saw a black car leaving the area and the victim told her he had been shot. The girlfriend said she called 911 and she then saw the victim running from the area.

The victim was located near 1921 Summer Street, and refused to answer any of the officer’s questions.  He was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Officers located a bullet slug underneath a car parked in the driveway at 1921 Summer Street.

The incident remains under investigation.
