Oquawka man arrested for robbing Burlington convenience store

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department has announced the arrest of an Oquawka, Illinois man for robbing a convenience store.

According to a news release, Burlington detectives began investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Phillips 66 gas station, 1900 Summer Street, just before 6 AM Monday, May 8th.

At 6:02 am the convenience store clerk called DESCOM and reported the robbery. Burlington Police Officers responded to the scene and were told by the female clerk that a man entered the store, brandished a handgun, and demanded money.  The clerk said she gave the man her purse and he fled from the store.  No one was injured in the incident

Burlington Detectives were able to obtain a license plate number from the vehicle used in the robbery and were able to determine a link between the vehicle, and an address in Oquawka, Illinois.

Detectives went to the address and located the vehicle outside the residence.  Detectives then knocked on the door and the suspect from the robbery answered the door.

18-year-old Brennan Carl Duttweiler of Oquawka was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Theft and 2nd Degree Robbery.
