Shottenkirk pushes pickleball project over the top

Fort Madison, IA-  Fundraising for the Fort Madison Pickleball Project has been pushed over the top thanks to a donation from Shottenkirk Automotive.

According to a news release, Greg Shottenkirk and the entire Shottenkirk Automotive team announced a donation of $30,000 to push the fundraising for the project over the top.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be about $300,000, and will soon be completed and ready for use.

“It is a huge project that will have a lasting impact and we are proud to be able to help make it happen!”, said Greg Shottenkirk, owner of Shottenkirk Automotive Group. “It really is a tremendous project for the community to enjoy for many years by enhancing recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and visitors of Fort Madison”, said Shottenkirk.

“I have been honored to be part of the committee leading this great project for Fort Madison, and this donation by Greg and the Shottenkirk organization is such an incredible gift to our community. Greg and his team truly give back and it is an awesome thing for sure,” said Donna Amandus, Co-Chair of the Fort Madison Pickleball Association and member of the Fort Madison City Council.

Lynn Hoyer, another member of the Pickleball Committee, added that “we were short on funds to pay for everything, and the Shottenkirk family came through in a big way to put us over the top for funding this awesome project!” “I couldn’t be more excited!” added Hoyer.

The Fort Madison Pickleball Association has transformed dilapidated tennis courts into six state-of-the-art pickleball courts that are scheduled to open in the coming days.

There is growing demand for this popular sport, and the addition of new pickleball courts will provide ample opportunities for individuals of all ages and skill levels to participate in this exciting sport, while fostering community engagement, health, and well-being.
