
Macomb, Ill.- The Macomb Police Department says that one person was pronounced dead after being struck by an Amtrak train.
According to a news release, at about 9:29 PM Thursday, June 22nd, the Macomb Police Department was notified by Amtrak personnel of an incident involving the Westbound “Illinois Zephyr” passenger train and a pedestrian.
The Macomb Police and Fire Departments, as well as McDonough County Sheriff’s Deputies, responded to the scene near the intersection of West Jackson Street and Clay Street.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the McDonough County Coroner.
The incident remains under investigation. No foul play is suspected.
