Fairfield teen seeks to appeal sentence in teacher’s murder, 2nd teen’s sentencing pushed back

Fairfield, IA-  A Fairfield teen convicted of killing his high school Spanish teacher has filed a motion to appeal his sentence.

TV Station KTVO reports that 17-year-old Willard Miller was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 35 years on July 6th.  On Monday, July 17th Miller’s attorneys filed a motion to appeal the sentence to the Iowa Supreme Court.

Sentencing for Miller’s co-defendant, 18-year-old Jeremy Goodale, had been scheduled for August 23rd, but his attorneys asked for a continuance, which was granted by the judge.

A two-day sentencing is now scheduled to begin on November 14th.
