Macomb, Ill.-  The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Macomb man in connection with a 2021 Criminal Sexual Abuse case.

According to a news release, on July 16th, 2021, McDonough County Sheriff’s Detectives were made aware of an allegation of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse involving 55-year-old Bruce Black of Macomb.

Detectives executed a search warrant at 315 North Ward Street in Macomb on July 20, 2021, and collected several items of evidence.

On July 22, 2021, Sheriff’s Detectives were made aware that Bruce Black had left the country and flown to Costa Rica.  Black missed his return flight and was considered a fugitive from justice on August 12, 2021, when a warrant was issued for his arrest for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.

Detectives and the United States Marshalls started their search for Bruce Black.  After coordinating with several different Federal Agencies, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was notified in late May of 2023 that Bruce Black would be deported from the country of Costa Rica.

Black was then detained by the Maimi-Dade Police Department at the port of entry and subsequently extradited to McDonough County on June 5, 2023.

On July 19, 2023, a motion to reduce the bond was heard in McDonough County Court and denied by a judge.

Black currently needs a $1,000,000.00 bond with 10% to apply.  Black’s next court date is September 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the McDonough County Courthouse.
