Burlington, IA- The Burlington Area YMCA has announced it will be receiving $93,048 in Strengthening Communities Grant funding.
According to an online post the grant funds, provided by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, specifically support facility renovation and construction projects that promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The funding will allow the YMCA to renovate and modernize both the boy’s and girls’ locker rooms.
The improvements will include the addition of private showers and changing rooms, ADA-accessible toilet partitions, new lockers, updated flooring, a baby changing station, and updated sink and vanity lighting.
The locker rooms will be closed from August 14th through September 11th. Adults may use the HSC locker rooms while the construction is going on. Children must utilize the restrooms in the main lobby of the YMCA.
The grant was made possible by an appropriation form the Iowa Legislature through the Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure fund.
