
Davenport, IA- An Iowa City man was sentenced Wednesday, September 20th, to 132 months in federal prison for receipt of child pornography.
According to court documents, 65-year-old Yasir Elamin Babekir Hamid, was identified by law enforcement as a person of interest after a cyber tip was received by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, from a social media platform on which videos of child sexual abuse material had been uploaded.
Law enforcement traced the account to Hamid. During a search of Hamid’s residence law enforcement seized five electronic devices, which contained hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse material. In total, Hamid was held responsible for 17,105 images.
Following his prison term, Hamid will be required to serve five years of supervised release. Hamid was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution.
