
Burlington, IA- The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Burlington man following a pursuit.
According to a news release, at about 2:42 PM Saturday, September 23rd, Des Moines County Deputies observed a motorcycle at Main Street and Court operating with no registration. Deputies also recognized the driver as 31-year-old Samuel Joseph Pogue II of Burlington. Deputies were aware that Pogue’s driving status was barred.
Deputies attempted to stop the motorcycle, but the driver fled and attempted to elude deputies through Burlington at speeds 25 miles per hour above the speed limit. The motorcycle eventually lost control in the 300 block of Marshall Street, and the driver attempted to flee on foot.
Deputies located Pogue a short time later and he was arrested. Deputies searched Pogue, and he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Pogue was charged with driving while barred, felony eluding, and possession of a controlled substance.
