Ottumwa Police Department and Iowa DCI investigating stabbing death

Ottumwa, IA-  The Ottumwa Police Department and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations are investigating the stabbing death of an Ottumwa man.

According to a news release, at about 10:46 PM Monday, October 16th, Ottumwa Police Officers were dispatched to 301 South Ward Street for a report of a stabbing.  Officers located an injured man outside the home.  The man, later identified as 34-year-old Samuel Gallegos-Ramirez of Ottumwa was transported to Ottumwa Regional Health Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause and manner of death.

The Ottumwa Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation continue the investigation. No charges have been filed and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
