Bushnell, Ill.- The Illinois State Police is investigating an Officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday, October 19th in Bushnell.
According to a news release, at about 1:44 PM Thursday, a McDonough County Deputy was attempting to take 32-year-old Jesse R. Pickrel of Bushnell into custody for Aggravated Domestic Battery. Pickrel came at the deputy with an axe, and the deputy fired multiple rounds at Pickrel.
Pickrel fled the scene and was later apprehended. Neither the Deputy or Pickrel sustained any injuries.
The McDonough County Sheriff’s Department requested the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 4 to investigate the incident.
Pickrel is being held at the McDonough County Jail. The ISP says the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
