
Galesburg, Ill.- The Galesburg Fire Department says that five residents were rescued from an apartment fire on Monday, January 8th.
According to a news release, at 6:28 AM Monday, the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a multi-family apartment building at 684 Home Blvd.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found four residents trapped on a second-floor balcony.
Firefighters deployed ground ladders and rescued the trapped residents while the acting captain made entry onto the second floor and rescued an additional occupant through heavy smoke.
No injuries were reported.
The fire department says that the cause of the fire was determined to be intentional, and remains under investigation by Galesburg Fire Investigators in cooperation with the Office of the State Fire Marshall.
