Keokuk Police investigating new year’s stabbing incident

Keokuk, IA-  The Keokuk Police Department is investigating a stabbing incident that took place on New Year’s Day.

According to a news release, at about 2:05 AM on New Year’s Day, Keokuk Police were dispatched to Lucky’s Irish Pub and Grub, 528 Blondeau Street in reference to a fight in progress.

The first officer arrived less than a minute after being dispatched with three more officers arriving in less than three minutes.

While officers were on scene, they discovered a male victim who received multiple stab wounds during an altercation, which had taken place just outside the establishment.

One of the officers immediately rendered aid, placing a tourniquet on the subject and requesting medical assistance through the dispatch center.

The victim was transported via ambulance to a designated landing location for an air evacuation.  The victim was then taken by helicopter to a medical facility for treatment and was released several days later.

Through an investigation, it was determined this was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
