Keokuk, IA- The Keokuk School District has formally introduced former Iowa Hawkeyes and NFL wide receiver Marvin McNutt as their new head football coach.
According to a news release, the school district held an introductory press conference for McNutt on Friday at Keokuk High School.
When asked, “why Keokuk?”, McNutt answered, “one of my favorite quarterbacks is from here, James Vandenberg.” Vandenberg is a Keokuk High School graduate and former teammate of McNutt at the University of Iowa.
He added, “I also recruited from here for Coe [College], these kids are special and so is this area.”
During his time with the Hawkeyes, he was a two-time all Big Ten wide receiver and the 2011 Big Ten wide receiver of the year.
He was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL draft, and played three seasons in the NFL, continuing his career with the Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and Washington Commanders.
McNutt began his coaching career with the Cedar Rapids Titans of the Indoor Football League in 2017. He then went on to serve as the wide receiver coach at Coe College until 2022.
