Henry County, Ill.- A jury in Illinois has found a man guilty of murder in the death of Knox County Deputy Nicholas Weist.
TV Station WQAD reports that the jury deliberated for about three hours before returning a guilty verdict in the trial of Daylon Richardson.
Richardson was found guilty of two counts of murder in Weist’s death.
The charges stem from an April 2022 incident in which Richardson led police on a chase on Highway 150 north of Galesburg, during which Weist was struck and killed by Richardson’s vehicle.
His sentencing is scheduled for May 24th.
