Two Louisa County residents arrested on drug charges

Columbus Junction, IA-  The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of two individuals on multiple drug-related charges.

According to a news release, at about 11 AM on April 10th, Louisa County Deputies and Columbus Junction Police Officers conducted a search warrant at 1201 8Th Ave in Fredonia, IA.

This was in reference to an ongoing narcotics investigation into the distribution and use of methamphetamine.

Illegal substances including 24 grams of methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana were all seized, as well as drug packaging, paraphernalia, and distributing materials.

As a result of the investigation, 65-year-old Merril Shepard and 35-year-old Nicole Harris were arrested and taken to the Louisa County Jail.

Shepard was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, gathering/residence where controlled substances are used, drug tax stamp violation, 2 counts of possession of controlled substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Harris was charged with gathering/residence where controlled substances are used, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both are being held on cash bond at the Louisa County Jail.
