Hancock County Sheriff’s Office: Theft investigation leads to arrest and search warrant

La Harpe, Ill.-  The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says that an investigation into thefts in the rural La Harpe area has led to an arrest and the execution of a search warrant.

According to a news release, deputies have been investigating thefts in the La Harpe area, which include reports of stolen tools, trailers, equipment, machinery, and other items.

A cooperative effort with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office led to the recovery of a stolen trailer near Gladstone, Illinois which had been stolen from rural La Harpe.

An arrest warrant was sought for 42-year-old William Miller of La Harpe for felony theft.  Through an investigation, deputies learned that Miller was alleged to be in possession of stolen items at his residence, and a search warrant for the property was obtained.

The search warrant was executed on April 1st and numerous items were recovered and collected as evidence.

Miller was located and arrested on the previously mentioned warrant.  This investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected to be filed.
