
Ottumwa, IA- The Ottumwa Police Department has announced the arrests of three people for allegedly attempting to break into an ATM.
According to a news release, at about 5:43 AM Friday, April 19th, the Ottumwa Police Department received a report of someone trying to break into the ATM at Meridian Credit Union, 1206 N. Jefferson, in Ottumwa.
It was reported to police that the suspects had hooked chains to the ATM from a truck and were trying to use the truck to pull open the door to the ATM, or remove it from the ground.
Police responded to the area and located the truck that had been used in the crime, which was determined to have been stolen overnight from a hotel parking lot in Oskaloosa.
Police located another vehicle that the suspects were using to try and leave the area, which was stopped near the intersection of North Court and Highland Avenue.
The three suspects were arrested and taken to the Wapello County Jail.
The three men, 28-year-old Cary Ray Jones Jr. of Fresno Texas, 32-year-old Zachary Ray of Humble Texas, and 23-year-old Rayvion Reynolds-Flower, a student at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa (formerly of Kingwood, Texas), were charged with 1st Degree Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and 1st Degree Criminal Mischief.
