Burlington, IA-  The United Way of Southeast Iowa is encouraging residents to participate in this year’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 11th.

United Way of Southeast Iowa Director Megan Brincks says that Burlington residents should receive a postcard and a grocery bag, sponsored by Fareway and Hy-Vee in their mailbox.

“You can fill that bag with non-perishable goods, or even household products,” Brincks says.  “We’re accepting things like hygiene products, paper towels, things like that as well if you don’t have any canned or non-perishable food.”  “And then Saturday morning, put it out by your mailbox,  and your letter carrier will pick it up and take it down to the post office, we’ll weigh it and sort it out between the food pantries that are also participating,” Brincks says.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the largest one-day food drive, and provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need.
