Keokuk, IA-  Authorities in Lee County have announced the arrest of two individuals following a vehicle pursuit.

According to a news release, at about 1:38 PM Wednesday, June 12th, a Keokuk Police Officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle known to be occupied by an individual with active arrest warrants.

The vehicle, which was occupied by a driver and two passengers, failed to stop and officers pursued the vehicle out of city limits on Mississippi River Road.

The driver eventually stopped the vehicle near 320th Street and 250th Avenue, where all occupants fled from the vehicle into a small area with timber.

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and a Fort Madison drone were deployed in an effort to locate the suspects.

A result of the search yielded the arrests of two people.  33-year-old Brittany Saltzman was arrested and charged with interference with official acts.  Saltzman was also arrested by the Lee County Sheriff’s office on multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

40-year-old Courtney Kellum of Keokuk was arrested and charged with Interference With Official Acts.

The third suspect is at large but is not believed to be an ongoing threat to the public.

During the pursuit, at approximately 2 p.m., LeeComm received a call indicating that a juvenile had sustained a gun-related injury in the 1400 block of South 7th Street.

Officers went to that location and conducted an investigation, which resulted in the determination that the report was false and likely an attempt to hinder law enforcement’s pursuit of the fleeing subjects.
