Macomb police make multiple arrests in shots fired incident

Macomb, Ill.-  The Macomb Police Department has announced the arrests of three individuals following a shots fired incident.

According to a news release, at about 12:16 PM Monday, July 15th, Macomb police responded to the area of Albert Street and Piper Street in Macomb for a report of shots fired.

Officers arrived and determined there were no injuries, and the suspects had fled the scene.

Officers began collecting evidence and searched the area for the suspect vehicle.  Authorities developed a lead on the suspects, located evidence at the scene, and ultimately found the suspect vehicle.

Officers developed information that the suspects were in a residence, and likely still armed.  Officers surrounded the residence, located on Derry Lane in Macomb, while Detectives secured a search warrant.

After acquiring the warrant, Macomb Police Officers, assisted by McDonough County Deputies and the Illinois State Police were able to call out the suspects one at a time, and take them into custody without incident.

The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Deandre Smith of Hazel Crest Illinois, 24-year-old Christian Walker of Macomb, and 24-year-old Kirk Waters of Macomb.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and more charges may be brought forward.
