Burlington firefighters respond to Gulfport fire

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Fire Department responded to a fire that occurred Wednesday, July 17th in Gulfport, Illinois.

According to a news release, the Burlington Fire Department was dispatched at 2:01 AM Wednesday for mutual aid to 304 Scholer Ave. in Gulfport Illinois for a report of a garage on fire.

Firefighters arrived nine minutes later to find a 20’x30′ metal shop fully engulfed.

The fire was brought under control at about 2:12 AM.  Damages to the property are still being assessed.

An investigation revealed that a large tree fell onto a power line that supplied power to the structure.

Due to extensive damage to the property, the area of origin was not identified, and the cause remains undetermined and not considered suspicious.

The Burlington Fire Department was assisted by Gladstone Fire and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and no injuries were reported during this incident.
