Police execute search warrant in Burlington, one person arrested

Burlington, IA-  The Burlington Police Department says one person was arrested during the execution of a search warrant.

According to a news release, the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force has been conducting an investigation over the past several months into a suspected drug network operating in Burlington.

The investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant at 521 Pine Street in Burlington.

At about 8:45 AM Friday, October 4th, the Tasks Force, with the assistance of local law enforcement, executed the search warrant.

As a result, authorities seized three firearms as well as cocaine and marijuana.

The suspect in the case, Thaddeus R. Purnell was arrested and charged with three counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession with intent to deliver cocaine, Possession with intent to deliver marijuana, and drug tax stamp violation.

This operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle drug trafficking operations in the region and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
