Davenport Police: Three individuals charged with 2nd degree murder in relation to 2015 assault

Davenport, IA-  The Davenport Police Department says that three individuals have been charged with 2nd degree murder in relation to a 2015 assault.

According to a news release, in October of 2015, just after midnight, Davenport Police Officers were dispatched to the Chorus Line Strip Club, previously located at 4128 North Brady Street, in reference to an assault.

Officers located an adult male victim, later identified as Joshua Sutton Jr., in the club who was transported to the local hospital, then to the University of Iowa Hospital for emergency medical treatment of critical head injuries suffered in the assault.

In 2015, three individuals, Kamden Shelton, Juan Shelton, and Trenton Shelton were all charged with Willful Injury-Causing Serious Injury related to this incident.

The victim remained in a chronic vegetative state that required medical care in long-term care facilities until his death in April of 2024.

On Wednesday, October 9th, Kamden Shelton Sr. was arrested and charged with Second-Degree murder in relation to the 2015 assault.

Juan Shelton and Trenton Shelton remain in custody on unrelated charges.  Warrants for Second Degree Murder have been issued for both individuals.
