The Mohrfeld family of West Point has launched construction on a 16,600-square-foot facility to expand the reach of their Holganix Midwest microbe business, as reported by Pen City Current. The facility, located near South Park, is expected to be operational by March, weather permitting, and will support sales and distribution of Bio 800+, a soil microbe product designed to enhance agricultural productivity. Fraise Construction is handling the build.
Holganix Bio 800+ introduces over 800 live microorganisms into the soil, improving soil health and unlocking nutrients for higher crop yields without increasing fertilizer use. The product, stored at refrigerated temperatures, activates in soil above 42 degrees and can be applied via planters or sprayers. Mohrfeld Midwest President Brian Mohrfeld, who joined the Holganix franchise three years ago, emphasized its role in revitalizing farming practices: “We’re bringing soil back to life.”
The new facility marks an evolution for the family-owned business, which began operating from a repurposed equipment building. The Mohrfeld family has grown into the largest Holganix provider in the U.S., serving Iowa and Nebraska.
