With Iowa’s winter utility shutoff moratorium ending April 1, Alliant Energy is reminding customers behind on payments that service disconnections may begin this month, but help is available.
Under state law, customers enrolled in LIHEAP or the federal Weatherization Assistance Program were protected from shutoffs between November 1 and April 1. Now, Alliant urges those struggling with bills to call 1-800-ALLIANT to explore payment plans, extensions, or financial assistance.
Support options include LIHEAP, which helped over 22,000 Alliant households in Iowa last year, and the Hometown Care Energy Fund. The LIHEAP application deadline is April 30. More details are available at alliantenergy.com/eaoptions.
