Rock Island police are investigating after a 19-year-old woman was found dead inside a room at the American Motor Inn late Saturday morning. Officers responded to the motel on 11th Street for a welfare check around 11 a.m. and discovered the woman deceased. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification. An autopsy has been scheduled as investigators work to determine the cause of death. The Rock Island Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is handling the case.
