
The Burlington Fire Department has released details regarding a Monday evening fire at 624 Hedge Avenue, determining the cause to be a failure of an extension cord. Burlington firefighters arrived within minutes of the call at 6:40 p.m. to find the first floor of the home fully engulfed.
The residents, Michael and Audra Baker, were not home at the time. No people were injured, but two dogs were found dead inside. The fire was brought under control quickly and deemed accidental, with damage assessments ongoing. The Burlington Fire Department was assisted by West Burlington Fire, the Burlington Police Department, and Alliant Energy.
