County Considering Change Orders for Meller Family Health Center Project

Lee County supervisors are considering change orders for the Meller Family Health Center, which will house the health department and EMS bay in Fort Madison. The $6 million facility is expected to be finished this fall.

Proposals include a $22,000 backup generator, with earlier lighting savings lowering the net cost to about $16,400. Other changes include $4,000 to meet Buy America requirements and $632 to move an electrical panel.

Officials say overall change order costs have stayed below expectations, and the county is nearing the investment threshold required to access $3 million in USDA funding. Supervisors are also weighing support for a new EMS training system and discussing a potential real estate transaction in closed session.
